Sitting on my moms lap
It's almost been five years since I moved to Virginia from Colorado. The number one thing I miss about Colorado is my family. Seems like a no brainer, but I'm very close to my family. Especially my mama. We talk on the phone several times a week, just to 'touch base'. I can tell her anything with almost no judgement 😂. We have so many inside jokes, we're constantly laughing together. There is one joke that came about from my moving away; me sitting on my mom's lap. She'll comment on my Facebook page, or send me a text saying that if I come home to visit I can sit on her lap. I may be the youngest of my siblings, but I'm over 30 and have no business sitting on my little Mama's lap.
Fast forward to now, and my mom never fails to remind me that I have yet to make her a quilt. I have had these charm squares since the Quilt Expo back in October. I bought one pack from Pineapple Fabrics and Missouri Quilt Star. Modern Background Colorbox Zen Chic by Moda can be found here and Palm Canyon by Violet Craft for Robert Kaufman can be found here. I used a super soft flannel from Joann for the backing. I didn't use any specific pattern, I just started arranging half square triangles and ended up with a a diamond type design. I wanted to stick with the diamond design when quilting and incorporated some free motion, straight line, and ruler quilting. Check out my Instagram to watch me quilt away on Juki. My awesome husband took these photos with his new Canon Rebel T6 18MP DSLR Wi-Fi Camera.
So, even though I'm not there to sit on my moms lap, she will at least have a little piece of me to keep it warm until I'm back. Love you mucho mama!
